We can use the SI&I system and/or the CI&I process to get better results, however the use of tools that are appropriate for system (strategic), process (tactical) and practice (operational) levels can significantly increase the quality of results and the efficiency of how you get to those results. Members of the SI&I network have developed, adopted, tested and improved tools to help people and businesses achieve greater successes, improvements and innovations. Select the tool according to the type of goal you are working towards. There are three levels of goals: system/strategy; process/tactical; practice/operational. Each type requires the use of the right tools/mechanisms in a logical set and sequence of steps to achieve the goal, and improvements and innovations. We know of over 500 tools for achieving greater successes, improvements and innovations. We have a guide (see PDF) for the use of tools. The guide is for the goal of SI&I for individuals, teams and/or partnerships, and for system, process and/or practice levels. For greater effectiveness and efficiency it is essential to use the right tools. A particularly important tool, a Glossary of Key Terms such as the example attached, improves collaborative work because participants have a shared understanding of important words. Everyone can use SI&I and CI&I, and use tools, to increase outcome achievement. There is a tendency for people to think that Continuous Improvement or Continuous Innovation is something that Improvement or Innovation specialists do. However, every person on this planet can improve their own lives and the lives of those around them by using the systems, processes and tools outlined in this website and in the Guide attached below. Your comment, and improvement and innovation of the guide is welcome. The attached Guide outlines the context for using tools, that is, the fundamentals of the SI&I system and the CI&I process. It provides a list of tools. Don't be overwhelmed by the number. We will recommend a few tools to begin your practice of tool use and then you can experiment and build your own select tool kit to serve your particular purpose. |
