I have been involved in SI&I and CI&I since the early 2000’s, applying the system and process to achieve results in partnership with people in agricultural businesses, communities and governments in southern Africa, and in my own roles.
In my work with the Agricultural Research Council of South Africa I have supported commercial, communal and emerging farmers and extension officers in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana through capacity building in the CI&I approach. In my broader work context, I use skills in teaching, coaching, writing, strategizing, designing interventions and research and development to achieve priority outcomes in agriculture and rural contexts. I am an accredited animal science teacher at university level, and an accredited facilitator, assessor and moderator with two education and training authorities in South Africa. My family has been involved in agribusiness for many generations. We operate an irrigation scheme that produces small grains, cash crops, dry crops, small stock and cattle. We have also been farming broiler chickens since 1980. I enjoy the challenge of coordinating multidisciplinary, multicultural and international teams to develop comprehensive concepts and projects that achieve improvements and innovations in real world settings. I am interested in thinking afresh about approaches that are relevant to agricultural enterprises that are facing resource limitations. I have a special interest in developing and studying new trends in conventional rural settings as well as in peri-urban and urban situations. E: [email protected] P: +27 (0)126729029 |
